Halloween Howdy from Minnie Pearl of the Grand Ole Opry

Oh my gourd!

Since we are inching closer and closer to All Hallow’s Eve by the day, I thought I’d do a series of costumes for you ladies to whip up in a jiffy.

If you’ve found me worth a follow, there’s a decent chance you’ve got at least ONE flowery sundress in your closet. Just add a straw hat (with price tag still attached, or course) and you’re an unforgettable and iconic piece of country music history.

Her real name was Sarah Ophelia Colley Cannon and not only was she a fixture on the Grand Ole Opry from day one, she single-handedly kept it afloat at times by appealing to her socialite friends. She was a renaissance woman, not only as an actress but as a producer and director across the Southeast. As a southern character actress myself, I’d be remiss to not give this comic genius and genuine original diva her due.
